Logistics companies such as FedEx and UPS no longer merely carry goods from one place to another. Some of them also provide supply chain planning and management services to their customers and help them manage their supply chain information. Investigate the web site of FedEx OR UPS to see how these companies’ services may be used for supply chain management. Then, answer the following questions:

回覆刪除Pull-based supply chain should be used . It driven by actual customer orders so that FedEx or UPS can provide service when they get the order !
Customers can prepare the shipment , track the shipment and check the bills throught internet once they make order to FedEx or UPS .

Hi Anita, the services you mentioned (shipment tracking, viewing and payment of bills, preparation of shipping documents) are all valid. By the way, you only need to pick one company to describe, either FedEx or UPS.
回覆刪除Aside from services related to package shipment and tracking, are there other SCM services offered by FedEx (or UPS, if you choose to talk about them) ? One example shown in your tutorial handout is that FedEx can also manage returns on behalf of their customers. You may try to find out how this works.
Question B) FEDex have a systerm for the customer to check their cargo information. First the customer directly contact with the returns management Authorization Department, then all the pocess are provide by the fedfx SCM Systerm. So the customer must check on Fedex systerm to sure their goods in a right dirction. Thought the systerm, customer have a good connection with fedex and the Fedex also thought it manage their customer's behalf.(ex: feedback , request, or suggestion)

For the processes i find that Fedex provided;

(2)Optimized management of returns using various modes of transportation.
(3) Return shipment authorization.
Configuration of FedEx European Central Stocking Locations to match a wide range of distribution patterns.
(4) Custom clearance.
(5) Automatic selection of optimal shipping mode based on the requested delivery time and or service level agreements with end customers.
(6) End-to-end management of your returns provides greater control.
(7) A single point of contact for all your return service needs.

You may say that FedEx or UPS can handle supplier management, warehouse management, returns management, supply chain network optimization and planning aside from transportation services. Customers may also access real-time information about anything that's going on in their supply chain, so they have 100% information visibility and can prepare better for any unforeseen events.
