1. Try any one of these decision support systems and describe two examples of decisions which they may help to support. For each decision, describe whether the decision would be made by operational, middle or senior management levels :

3. Which departments need to coordinate from start to finish of the Order-to-Cash business process ? Describe how the ERP software makes their work easier. Also explain why ERP software can serve as the foundation or platform for decision support systems.

    Break-even Calculator
    - It can let us to forecast that in this 18-month , we must sell 150,000 units to the volume of burgers in order to break even .
    - It can help to set to unit price that we can get profit .

    - Sales and Marketing department
    - ERP supports integration since the entire bursiness uses a common set of applications , supported by a centralized and integrated database .
    - ERP in considered to be the price of entry for running a business and for being connected to other enterprises in a network economy . The extensive database provided by ERP are likely to provide the platform for decision support , data mining and supply chain management .

    Break-even Calculator:
    -Find out the impact of changes in one / or more factors on the outcomes. (example:What IF we raise our product prices by 2% or doing discount for that)

    -the imput can be change repeatedlly in order to see their effect on the output. (What IF we increasing the advertising budget or some other promotions)

    THe decision would be decide by the senior management level.

  4. Your examples of decision-making are correct, I suggest you can rewrite these examples to be more specific. Here's some suggestions you may consider:

    a) Q3 Part 1 (by Anita):
    - "It can help to set to unit price that we can get profit."
    - You may rewrite this as: "It can help to set to unit price that we can get profit within a target timeframe (e.g. 16 months, 18 months, or 20 months)."

    b) Q3 Part 1 (by A_corn115):
    - "What IF we raise our product prices by 2% or doing discount for that"
    - You may rewrite this as: "How would raising the price by 2% affect our goal to break-even within 16 months ? Or how would lowering the variable cost by 10 cents affect our goal to break-even within 16 months ?"

  5. For Q3 Part 3, the Manufacturing, Warehousing, Accounting departments may also be involved in the steps within the Order-to-Cash process.

  7. NOted the ERP modules that users will use to complete the order-to-cash business process. Aside from Sales and Marketing, other departments involved would be Production, Finance and Accounting.
